Springfield man killed in Moorefield Twp. crash

MOOREFIELD TWP. — A Springfield man is dead after a crash in Moorefield Twp. Monday night.

Douglas Burkepile, 69, was heading north on St. Paris Pike around 8:50 p.m. Monday when his Dodge Dakota went off the right side of the road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said after going off the road, Burkepile overcorrected and went back into the roadway. The Dodge then went across both lanes of St. Paris Pike and hit a utility pole that was off the left side of the road.

Burkepile died from his injuries on scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
