An ROTC student grabbed a fire extinguisher to put out a grease fire Saturday evening at a Wright State University apartment building.
A woman was cooking on her stove when grease caught fire sometime after 6 p.m. at her apartment in the 2100 block of Zink Road in Fairborn.
The female student was not able to put out the fire, but a nearby resident enrolled in a U.S. armed forces Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at the university was able to use a fire extinguisher to quelch the small blaze before firefighters arrived.
The building was briefly evacuated, which affected about 15 students.
The students were allowed to return to their campus apartments, and no one was displaced.
