Shooter fires several shots along busy Clark County streets

SPRINGFIELD — Local police are investigating reports of shots fired in Springfield.

Around 3:45 p.m., Springfield police were dispatched to the area of South Yellow Springs Street and West Pleasant Main on reports of shots fired, according to a Springfield Police Sergeant.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, Marathon, on 502 S. Yellow Springs Road was damaged by the gunfire, the sergeant said.

On scene, Springfield police told News Center 7′s Brandon Lewis that vehicles were shooting at each other.

Multiple 911 callers told dispatchers that people in a large black car were hanging out the windows shooting while traveling down S. Yellow Springs Street.

“Three people were going down Yellow Springs with a van, with guns out of their sunroof, shooting,” one 911 caller said.

Another caller said her children were outside playing and had to run inside when the gunshots started sounding off.

“There was two guns firing, I heard at least 12 shots,” she told dispatchers.

The sergeant told News Center 7 that police are currently searching for any potential suspects.

“He was shooting for a hot minute before... he ran out of ammo,” another 911 caller said.

No one was injured in this shooting.
