Semi-truck hits snowplow, catches fire after bypassing road closed sign

JACKSON TWP., Montgomery County — A semi-truck drove past a road closed sign and crashed into a Montgomery County snowplow, causing the semi to roll on its side and catch fire Tuesday, according to investigators.

The semi, hauling an unknown amount of gravel, bypassed the road closed sign on South Preble County Line road around 9:25 a.m.

The road was closed due to flooding and crews were cleaning up debris leftover from last week’s high water, according to officials.

After the truck drove past the road closed sign, it hit the front of the snowplow, causing the semi to go into a ditch, roll onto its side, and catch fire officials said.

No injuries were reported, but the county worker was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

A second semi-truck, traveling behind the semi that crashed, also bypassed the road closed sign. Officials said both semi drivers will be cited for the incident.

According to state troopers, the road has reopened.

A semi-truck is on its side and caught fire following a crash on South Preble County Line Road, west of Farmersville Tuesday morning.

The crash was reported in the area of South Preble County Line Road and Farmersville Gratis Road around 9:25 a.m.

Reports indicate a semi is on its side and caught fire after the crash.  Crews reported heavy black smoke as they approached the scene, according to emergency scanner traffic.

The occupants of the vehicles involved are out of their vehicles, but it was not known if any injuries have been reported.
