Repairs on I-70 in Indiana will close lanes Saturday

If you're traveling to or from Indiana via I-70 on Saturday, you'll run into delays prompted by the state's pavement preservation project.

Thursday afternoon, Indiana Department of Transportation officials said lane restrictions for sealing areas of pavement and asphalt coating begin at 7 a.m. for the following:

  • The right lane of I-70 east between mile markers 151 and 156, east of Richmond.
  • The right lane of I-70 west between mile markers 153 and 154, northeast of Richmond.
  • Asphalt patching also will be occurring along the right shoulder and travel lane at the U.S. 40 interchange, just inside the Indiana side of the border with Ohio.

The closures will occur only where repair operations are taking place.

INDOT officials said they do not anticipate the need for closing on- or off-ramps.

All the work is weather permitting and should finish efforts on the project, INDOT officials said.
