Reid Health at “critical” bed status due to increase in COVID-19 patients

RICHMOND, Ind. — Reid Health is currently at “critical” bed status after an increasing number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Thomas Huth, M.D., Vice President of Medical Affairs at Reid Health said, "We are asking everyone to please, please not ignore masking, distancing and other safety measures.”

The hospital reported having 68 patients in their COVID containment area as of last Friday. Which beat their previous record from earlier in the pandemic which was 64 patients.

According to Reid Health’s website, the hospital has started moving some non-COVID patients to temporary areas.

This recent wave of the outbreak has had the most effect on higher-risk older people according to the hospital’s release.
