Burton was critically injured after being shot on August 10 during a traffic stop.

After spending three weeks at Miami Valley Hospital, Burton’s injuries were described as “unrecoverable” and she was taken off life support on September 1. She was transported to a hospice facility in Richmond on September 3.

Funeral arrangements are still being finalized and will be announced later.
