UPDATE: Power restored in parts of Greene County after outage knocks out service to thousands

FAIRBORN — UPDATE @ 3:10 p.m.:

Power has been restored to most after a brief outage in parts of Fairborn and Greene County Wednesday afternoon.

As of 3:10 p.m., only 246 outages remain after the initial outage of over 3,200, according to an AES Ohio outage map.

A company spokesperson said the outage was blamed on a “cut-out issue” which was described as a safety mechanism, and has since been resolved.

Additional details were not released.

Another power outage in the region has knocked out electric service to thousands of AES Ohio customers, according to an AES Ohio outage map.

Around 2:20 p.m. over 3,269 outages were reported in Greene County with the outages centered in parts of Fairborn, according to electric provider’s outage map.

The cause of the outage was not immediately known. However, Fairborn fire crews were dispatched around 2:20 p.m. to the area of Harvard Avenue and West Robbins Avenue on reports of a power line down and a pole on fire.

Initial reports indicate fire crews found a line down and the top of the pole had smoke coming from it.
