DAYTON — UPDATE @ 11:30 a.m. (Nov. 28):
The woman who was shot while sitting in her car on Summit Square Drive has died from her injuries, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office said.
Shanetha Head, 23, died at Miami Valley Hospital Tuesday afternoon, the coroner’s office said.
The shooting occurred Sunday afternoon in the 700 block, where the car ended up in the yard after Head attempted to leave the area where she was shot, according to Sgt. Jeffery Spires.
She appeared to be the only person in the car.
Two people were taken into police custody for questioning, but their connection to the shooting is unknown, said Sgt. Spires.
It is unknown why Head was shot.
It is also unknown if any weapons were recovered from the scene.
Dianna Burney, who came to check on friends and family, says she’s tired of the shootings.
“I’m tired of all the shooting and the killing, that’s what I’m tired of. I just feel any and everybody needs to think twice. You don’t gotta make a scene or anything to make it a problem, talk about it, talk it out,” she said. “Now days too many people getting killed, babies getting killed, for what?”
Police and a medic are at the scene of a shooting where at least one person was shot in Dayton, according to dispatchers with the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.
Crews were dispatched to the 700 block of Summit Square Drive around 3:10 p.m.
Police are looking for a suspect vehicle that was described as a black two-door sedan with tinted windows, according to dispatchers.
The extent of injuries is unknown.
