A Piqua man accused of secretly recording a nude teenage girl “out of pure revenge” was sentenced Monday to four years in prison on charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material in Miami County Common Pleas Court.

Anthony Preston, 37, was accused by Piqua police in January of concealing a camera in a laundry basket and recording a girl showering, going to the bathroom and changing clothes. Police said Preston told them he “recorded (the victim) out of pure revenge and he knew it was wrong.” A caller to 911 reported someone found the videos of the girl.

There was no plea bargain in the case. Preston pleaded guilty in April.

“There is no excuse for what I did,” Preston said Monday.

Judge Jeannine Pratt said the 15-year-old girl suffered serious psychological harm from being secretly recorded. Preston's explanation for the incident was “quite bizarre and unbelievable,” she said.

Preston was classified as a Tier II sex offender. The designation requires him to register his address, following prison release, every 180 days for 25 years with his local sheriff’s office.
