Agencies of the Butler County OVI Task Force will have extra traffic units out during the Halloween season from Oct. 26 through Oct. 31, according to a release.

Friday night’s checkpoint is at 10 p.m. through no later than 2 a.m. on U.S. 127 at University Park Boulevard in Oxford.

The second OVI checkpoint is scheduled for 10 p.m. to no later than 2 a.m. on state Route 4, specifically, South Erie Highway at Hanover Street in Hamilton.

Ohio law requires checkpoint times and locations be announced ahead of time.

“The Butler County OVI Task Force wants you to have a safe Halloween, so drive sober, wear your seat belt and obey traffic laws. Pay special attention to your surroundings, and watch out for trick-or-treaters. Don’t be the reason for a tragedy,” the release stated.

The checkpoints, along with patrols in the area of the checkpoint, are continuing effort to reduce OVI related crashes resulting in injuries and fatalities.
