OVI checkpoint results released for Montgomery County

OVI checkpoint scheduled for Friday in Montgomery County

UPDATE Aug. 25 @ 5:15 p.m.:

Two OVI sobriety checkpoints were conducted in Dayton Friday night, according to a release.

One checkpoint was located at N. Gettysburg Avenue and Kings Hwy. and was conducted by members of the Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County.

A total of 81 vehicles passed through this OVI checkpoint where one drug arrest was made, nine vehicles were diverted and tested for OVI, two driving under suspensions and two driving without license.

The second checkpoint was located at 2222 N. James H. McGee Blvd., between Gettysburg Avenue and Philadelphia Drive, and was conducted by Five Rivers MetroParks and the Dayton Police Department along with members of the Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County.

A total of 170 vehicles passed through this OVI checkpoint where 15 vehicles were diverted along with three traffic stops from saturation patrols, two were driving without license citations, five driving under suspicion citation and one citation for no child restrain/booster seat.

A trooper on a saturation patrol was also crashed into by an OVI driver who fled from the scene. Charges against the driver include assault, fleeing and eluding, grand theft, and OVI.

FIRST REPORT Aug. 24 @4:37 p.m.:

The Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County will have an OVI checkpoint Friday, according to a press release.

The checkpoint and enhanced patrols are part of an effort to deter and apprehend impaired drivers.

The Combined Agency Task Force is scheduled to conduct a roadside check for valid driver’s licenses and drug and alcohol impairment.

The location of the check will reportedly be revealed Friday.
