DAYTON — Organizers unveiled “Project Clean” on Thursday, a new resource in the Dayton area aimed to help homeless people in the community.
The event took place outside of the Samaritan Health Center.
Five Rivers Health Centers, Miami Valley Housing Opportunities and Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Abuse and Mental Health Services partnered to launch the project, which is a new mobile laundry and shower unit that includes two showers and two washers and dryers.
“Patients who experience homelessness have the opportunity to take a clean shower, to wash their clothes, and to get COVID testing when available,” said Gina McFarlane-El, CEO of Five Rivers Health Centers.
McFarlane said they have been working on this project for five years.
“Five Rivers Health Centers is thrilled to be partnering with MVHO and ADAMHS to offer these services to our neighbors who are homeless,” McFarlane said. “There are so many people in our community that will benefit from these resources.”
