GALION, Ohio — The holidays are going to be a little merrier for one Ohio couple after they won the lottery twice in the same day.

For the past nine months, Randy and Tanya Metzger have played their birthdays in the lottery’s Pick 5 drawings.
In the December 3 evening Pick 5 drawing, they noticed they hit $417 on one ticket by playing the $1 box.

“I never look at the other ones,” Randy said. “When I go and get them for the next day, I scan them.”
The next day, he went to a Speedway in Galion to cash in their tickets.
“It said, ‘$25,208.50′ and I go, ‘what?’ and then I look and thought, ‘those are the same numbers,” Randy said.
After taxes, the couple will take home approximately $18,150.
Randy told Ohio Lottery he and his wife plan to use their winnings to pay off a car and make Christmas merrier for several people who are in need.
