SPRINGFIELD — A person is dead after a shooting in a Springfield neighborhood early Friday.

As reported on News Center 7 Daybreak, Springfield officers and medics responded around 12:58 a.m. to a reported shooting at the 1700 block of Maiden Lane.

When our news crew arrived at the scene, they saw the Clark County Coroner’s office leave the scene.
The dispatch sergeant told News Center 7 that the initial call was that a gun was used in self-defense.
He added that a male was shot, and another male was in custody.
Photos and video show a Springfield police cruiser at the scene. This happened across the street from an elementary school.
