Newport Aquarium offering free college tuition to employees

The employees are Newport Aquarium have the opportunity to further their education for free.

The aquarium’s parent company, Herschend Enterprises, announced that it will cover 100 percent of tuition, fees and books for its 11,000 employees who choose to pursue further education through the company’s “Grow U” program.

The “Grow U” program “aims to make it exponentially easier for employees at all levels to pursue their personal and professional dreams through education,” according to a release.

The program is scheduled to launch on February 24 and is for all seasonal, part-time and full-time employees across it’s 25 attractions in the U.S., including Newport Aquarium.

CEO Andrew Wexler said the program was a “transformational investment” in the growth of the company’s employees.

“We’re so proud of their hard work in taking care of our guests and their own bright futures so we’re thrilled to be rewarding that hard work with this great new education benefit,” Rebecca Foster, executive director of Newport Aquarium, said.

The company will also be providing up to $5,250 a year in partial funding for 150 additional programs in fields including hospitality, engineering, human resources and art design.
