MIAMI CO. — UPDATE @ 2:40 a.m.

Firefighters said a house in Miami County that has sat vacant for over 40 years was severely damaged in a fire early Monday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the 2000 block of Piqua-Troy Road just north of Troy around 12:20 a.m. after a deputy from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office reported smoke and flames from the structure.

Troy Fire Platoon Commander Tim Haywood said the structure was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters first arrived on scene.

There was no damage estimate, but Haywood said the structure has been abandoned for over 40 years.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions in Miami County have been dispatched to a reported fully involved structure fire north of Troy.

Crews were dispatched around 12:20 a.m. to the 2000 block of Piqua-Troy Road after a deputy frim the Miami County Sheriff’s Office reported heavy smoke and flames coming from a building.

Initial reports indicate the structure is believed to be abandoned and may have caught fire before.
