SPRINGFIELD TWP. — UPDATE @ 11:41 p.m.: The cause of the wind-driven house fire on Malaga Circle, in the Ramar Estates, is undetermined, Springfield Twp. Fire Deputy Chief Jamie Allen said.
The fire's origin was on the front porch, he said, noting there were some electrical devices on the porch that could be suspect.
Allen said crews were dispatched on a report of a porch fire, which had spread across the entire front of the home and up to the roof because of the wind.
The wind -- blamed for a fire earlier Tuesday night in Dayton that spread flames from a fire pit to a garage and two other structures -- and lack of hydrants on the property of the estates forced dispatchers to call on several fire departments to bring water to the scene.
Both factors, Allen said, created "just fighting an uphill battle trying to get ahead of [the fire]."
UPDATE @ 11:12 p.m.:
Two residents and their pets escaped a house fire Tuesday night in the 3800 block of Malaga Circle in Springfield Twp., a Clark County Sheriff's deputy said.
The residents -- a man and woman -- were able to escape the flames that heavily damaged their two-story, wood-frame home in the Ramar Estates off Springfield Jamestown Road (state Route 72).
Several crews from area fire departments remain on scene.
Putting out the fire was made more complicated by the fact there are no hydrants on the property of the estates. Water had to be brought to the scene, we're told.
Crews are on the scene of a fire at the Ramar Estates, just off Springfield Jamestown Road (state Route 72) in Clark County.
The fire was reported about 9:15 p.m. and an evacuation has taken place. There are no reports of any injuries.
We have a crew on the way. We will update this developing report. Stay with whio.com for breaking news.
