Moraine opening recreation center as warming center during winter storm

MORAINE — The city of Moraine is offering a warmer center for those who need it during the winter storm expected to hit the Miami Valley.

The Payne Recreation Center will be open as a warming center from Wednesday, February 2, to Friday, February 4. The warming center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

In a release, city officials asked residents to “take this opportunity to check on your neighbors to see if they may also require assistance during this weather event.”

A Winter Storm Warning was issued for Auglaize, Champaign, Darke, Mercer, Miami, Preble, Shelby counties and Union, Randolph and Wayne, Indiana that goes into effect Wednesday morning through Friday morning. Additionally, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the entire region for late Wednesday through Friday morning.

Additionally, city leaders said all non-emergency assistance may be obtained by calling the Moraine dispatcher center at (937)-535-1166.
