Miami Valley Hospital Heart and Vascular ICU earns excellence award

The Heart and Vascular ICU at Miami Valley Hospital has earned their third consecutive silver Beacon Award for Excellence, according to a release.

They were recognized by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).

The Heart and Vascular ICU remains the only unit in Dayton to earn this national award with gold, silver and bronze designations, read the release.

The unit is also the only cardiovascular ICU in Ohio to earn the Beacon Award, and one of only 30 cardiovascular ICUs in the country to earn a silver Beacon Award.

This award recognizes unit caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with the AACN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards, according to the association.
