Miamisburg police used a SWAT team to serve a warrant on Byers Ridge Drive on Wednesday. The person they most wanted to find at the home was 38-year-old Roland Booker.

Police released Booker’s photo on Wednesday and he turned himself in at the Montgomery County Jail on Thursday night and booked on two counts of failure to comply.

As News Center 7 saw first-hand, he was not happy to be in court on Friday.

Booker asked a Miamisburg Municipal Court judge to consider dropping the amount of his bond. He indicated that he could not make bail and it would hurt his job standing.

“Given the facts I have before me, I have to protect the public, given your history,” the judge said, setting his bond at $100,000.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, our team confirmed that Friday’s court appearance was related to an incident this past Sunday night. A Miamisburg office pulled Booker over for a traffic violation on the ramp from southbound Interstate 75 to State Route 725.

Court documents show Booker pulled into a nearby gas station. As the officer spoke to him, he refused to get out of his vehicle and sped away while that officer was trying to open his driver’s side door to arrest him.

That happened three days before Miamisburg officers used a SWAT team to surround a home on Byers Ridge Drive during the operation exploring potential drug and prostitution crimes.

Police told News Center 7 that they used SWAT because the person they were looking for, later identified as Booker, had a history of violence. News Center 7 uncovered Dayton Municipal Court records of 13 arrests or citations involving Booker. Two of them involved accusations of assault with a deadly weapon.

News Center 7 also confirmed Friday that police presented evidence to prosecutors that ended with Booker being charged with new charges of tampering with evidence and possession of drugs.

Booker remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail.
