MONROE — The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating after police shot and killed a man during a traffic stop in Monroe Friday, according to a release from Monroe Police Department.
According to the release, Monroe police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of New Garver Road and Lebanon Street in Monroe around 10:44 p.m., our news partners at WCPO report.
Police said the man got out of the passenger side of his vehicle and refused to comply with commands given by officers.

The man pulled a gun from his waistband and officers then shot him, according to the release.
The man was taken to the Atrium Hospital where he died from his wounds.
Per department policy, the officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave.
The number of shots fired or how many officers were involved was not included in the release, reports WCPO.
