Sylvester Franklin ordered a drill on the online shopping website AliExpress, but all he got was a picture of the drill, CBS affiliate WTOC-11 reported.

Not only that, but Franklin also ordered a pressure washer, and all he received was a screw.
“I paid $22.47 for a pressure washer, and this is what I get,” Franklin told WTOC-11. “It’s a screw.”
Franklin ordered the items in November, and ever since then he has been in contact with AliExpress to get a refund but hasn’t received one.
AliExpress is a subsidiary of AliBaba, which is sometimes referred to as the Amazon of China, WTOC-11 reported.
In 2021, AliExpress was added to the Office of the United States Trade Representative’s list of Notorious Markets for Counterfeiting and Piracy and the Better Business Bureau gave the website a D- rating, WTOC-11 reported.
Franklin has tried to get his money back from AliExpress, as well as get a chargeback from his bank, but hasn’t had any luck.
He only spent around $40 but wants others to learn from his story.
“This is not good. This is real bad. All this is bad, you know what I mean? Don’t scam nobody. I don’t like to get scammed, because you spend your money, you want to get what you paid for,” Franklin said.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, you should try contacting the company’s customer service to get a refund or start the chargeback process with your credit card issuer.
Ultimately, be careful where you shop, and be sure to check the BBB’s business ratings if you’re unsure.
