MetroParks rangers say the driver was traveling north on OH-4 near Stanley Avenue around 1 a.m. when he swerved to miss hitting an animal in the road. This caused him to lose control of the vehicle and hit several trees. As the man was attempting to exit the vehicle, he ended up falling into Eastwood Lake, not realizing how close the vehicle was to the body of water.
The driver did not have to be rescued from the lake and was transported to Grandview Medical Center with minor injuries.
Officials do not believe drugs or alcohol are a factor in the crash, but the driver will be cited for failure to control.
