The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the man who died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Harrison Township.
Marc Schackleford, 65, of Dayton was stuck by a 2002 Chevrolet Impala while walking in the westbound lanes of Turner Rd. The accident occurred just after 7 p.m.
Schackleford was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male has died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Harrison Township.
Sheriff’s deputies from Harrison Township responded to the accident just after 7 p.m. near the intersection of Turner Rd. and N. Main St.
A release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office confirmed that preliminary investigations show that a 65-year-old African American male was struck while walking in the westbound lanes of Turner Rd.
The man was struck by a silver 2002 Chevrolet Impala being driven by a 43-year-old female travelling west on Turner Rd. in the right lane.
The driver called 911 after striking him.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medics from the Harrison Twp. Fire Dept.
There are reports that several other vehicles also struck the man and failed to stop following the initial strike, according to the release.
The accident is still under investigation by the Traffic Services Unit of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office asks that anyone with information calls the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Regional Dispatch Center at (937)225-HELP.
INITIAL REPORT:
Police and fire crews are responding to the scene of an accident involving a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in Harrison Township Saturday night.
The accident occurred on the 4000 block of North Main Street near the CVS just after 7 p.m.
Montgomery County Dispatch confirmed that the pedestrian was struck by a car while walking in the middle of the road.
Dispatch said it is unknown if the male pedestrian was breathing when crews arrived to the scene.
RTA is currently shut down in the area near North Main Street and Turner Rd. following the accident.
