Man facing charges connected to Vandalia gym fires

VANDALIA — A Moraine man is facing charges in connection to an arson case in Vandalia.

Christopher Herbst, 28, was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday on two counts of aggravated arson, one count of tampering with evidence and three counts of arson.

Herbst was taken into custody on May 3 in connection to multiple fires that occurred at the M-Power Gym on March 20, according to a previous release from Vandalia Division of Fire.

He was taken into custody after a joint investigation between the Vandalia Fire Division and Vandalia Police Division.

Herbst is currently booked in the Montgomery County Jail.
