Man dead following single-vehicle crash in New Carlisle

NEW CARLISLE — One man is dead following a single vehicle fatal crash in Clark County Saturday evening, a spokesperson for the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Troopers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Scarff Road at approximately 7:51 p.m.

A 1997 Harley Davidson was traveling northbound on Scarff Road when it traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to preliminary investigation.

Ray Henderson, 49, of New Carlisle was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, an OSHP spokesperson said.

Scarff Road was closed for approximately two hours.

The crash remains under investigation.
