Longest serving K9 for Dayton police unexpectedly dies while on duty

DAYTON — The Dayton Police Department announced the death of its longest serving K9, Phantom.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Phantom,” the department said in a tweet.

Phantom was on duty with his handler, Officer R. Cleaver, when he unexpectedly died.
