MIAMI VALLEY — As the war in Ukraine continues, a lot of Ukrainian refugees are without items many of us may take for granted. Now, a local salon is trying to help.

Square One Salon & Spa has been collecting donations for refugees.

Boxes are being filled with items like combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant and washcloths. The salon plans to provide shampoo, conditioner and soap.

“There are people that desperately need our help. Like I said, they barely had a chance to grab the essentials like documents, passports, birth certificates, etc.,” Brett Davidson, of Square One Salon & Spa, said. “They absolutely did not have time to grab the items that they need to take care of themselves on a daily basis.”

Salon workers are also collecting feminine hygiene products.

“We here in America are in a position to help and we should do everything in our power to give them a helping hand,” Davidson told News Center 7′s Gabrielle Enright. “Even if you bring in one toothbrush, that’s one person that can brush their teeth for that day.”

The salon will be accepting donations at any Square One location until May 1. Workers will then be packing up items and shipping them off where the need is.

Square One has locations in the Miami Valley in Dayton, Centerville and Washington Township.
