Local health officials are keeping a close eye on COVID-19 cases; one week after Super Bowl LVI.

Since more than seventy thousand people from across the country traveled to Los Angeles to attend the big game its understandable COVID-19 cases could rise.

According to the NFL’s website, anyone who attended the game and was two years old or older was supposed to wear a mask.

Shortly after game day, News Center 7 asked our viewers if anyone, who went to the game, took COVID-19 precautions when they got home.

One fan said he went to the Super Bowl and did not wear a mask.

Another fan told us his workplace asked him to quarantine for five days after the trip.

Sometime later, that fan said he started to feel sick and ultimately tested positive for COVID-19.

News Center 7 spoke with Premier Health’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Roberto Colon, and he said so far, Ohio has not seen a spike in cases connected to the Super Bowl.

“We actually have not observed a dramatic increase in any travel related to the Super Bowl,” Dr. Colon said.

While they haven’t seen a spike in cases, Dr. Colon says they are still keeping a ‘close eye’ on new COVID-19 numbers.
