Local Bengals fans react to ‘curse-breaking’ playoff win

DAYTON — Local Cincinnati Bengals fans were celebrating Saturday night as the curse broke and their suffering was finally over.

News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott visited two local sports bars Saturday to get fans’ reactions— who are on cloud nine.

Bengals fans have been waiting over three decades for this win and News Center 7 spoke with fans the moment they realized their team finally won a playoff game after all these years.

Jimmy Tucker, from Toledo, said that he is 32 years old so this is the first time he’s seen a win in his lifetime.

The Bengals came close to winning back in the 2015 playoffs, but fans were left heartbroken when they could not clinch the American Football Conference spot — losing by two.

“That was just a tough, tough year but we’re back now,” said Michael Kreill.

Even a Raiders fan had to admit the Bengals were a tough matchup for the wildcard game. Anthony Coati said it was an exciting game and if he wasn’t a Raiders fan, Bengals would be his second choice.

Fans told News Center 7 that now that they have a game to look forward to, the Bengals’ next game against the Bills which will air on WHIO-TV, they will be celebrating once again.
