DAYTON — The City of Dayton is considered to be one of the 10 safest U.S. cities from natural disasters, according to a new report from the website, Lifehacker.com.

>>INITIAL STORY: 15 Memorial Day tornadoes confirmed; EF4 traveled 20 miles, over half-mile wide

It looked at data from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (F.E.M.A.)

Dayton’s biggest worries are tornadoes and hail, the report said.

While more than a dozen tornadoes hit Dayton at night on Memorial Day back in 2019, most of the region’s tornadoes have been pretty small-scare, according to F.E.M.A.

Our area has had only four F-5 tornadoes over the last 70 years.

Other cities on the list include:

  • Syracuse, NY
  • Salt Lake City, UT
  • Spokane, WA
  • Bozeman, MT
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • Boulder, CO
  • Allentown, PA
  • Detroit, MI
