Immaculate Conception School staff member on leave, accused of inappropriate touching

DAYTON — A staff member at Immaculate Conception School was placed on administrative leave after the school received an allegation the employee inappropriately touched a student.

“Consistent with our practice in these situations the school notified the civil authorities and the Archdiocese immediately and put the faculty member on administrative leave pending investigation,” said Mike Schafer, director of communication at the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.  “At this time we don’t know if this allegation has any merit.”

A parent told this newsroom her 4-year-old daughter came home from school and said a staff member touched her inappropriately.

“It felt like something you would see on a TV show,” the mother said.  “I just started crying.”

The mother said the incident happened at the school on Tuesday, which is the same day Dayton police took a police report. No charges have been filed in the case, according to the report.

The mother is not being identified to protect the identity of her daughter.

She said she had her daughter show her on a baby doll what the staff member allegedly did, then contacted police.

“We called the police ... then we had to go to (Dayton) Children’s Hospital,” the mother said.

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati said they are committed to the safety of the students at all of its Catholic schools.
