News Center 7′s Brandon Lewis says as we head into the Christmas holiday season, some families here in the Miami Valley got news no one wants to get.

Police and medics responded to a two-vehicle crash on Salem Avenue in Harrison Township around 12:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

“Please get here like ASAP,” a 911 caller told dispatchers, in a phone call obtained by News Center 7. “This lady just got hit by this truck and she don’t look like she’s going to make it.”

A 73-year-old woman died in this accident, a Montgomery County Sheriff’s spokesperson told Lewis.

The second crash happened just after 7:00 a.m. on Northbound State Route 4 near Harshman Road when a utility worker was hit by a car, according to Huber Heights Police.

The man was pulling cable lines that were going to installed, a spokesperson told News Center 7.

The first fatal crash happened around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning when a truck went off Westbound Interstate 70 near U.S. 40 in Harmony Township.

A 44-year old driver died and one other person was hurt, troopers said. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor.

“I think that’s very sad and unfortunate,” said Hannah Germany of West Carrollton.

All this as people prepare to celebrate the holidays with family and friends.

“Praying again that we just open our eyes and realize that just coming and going, especially if we’re getting ready to go visit our families around the country, that we drive more careful,” David Richey told Lewis.

“I really think we do need more officers this time of year out patrolling, it’s just because of all these crashes that are going on honestly,” said James Hill of Huber Heights.

We will continue to provide updates on these fatal crashes.
