The Humane Association of Warren County took in 18 dogs and puppies rescued on Tuesday from “a deplorable hoarding situation.”
Shelter and Animal Care Manager Joanne Hurley received an emergency call Tuesday about the dogs, who are all receiving treatment at the shelter in Lebanon. Their medical needs range from severe skin infections to missing limbs.
Veterinarian Dr. Rich Coleman of Four Paws Animal Hospital in Lebanon is donating his time to evaluate and diagnose each animal rescued. Some require medications and other hernia repair and corrective eye and orthopedic surgeries, according to the humane association.
The Humane Association of Warren County is a nonprofit animal welfare organization founded in 1973.
