News Center 7 previously reported that crews were called out to the 5600 block of Sharp Road at around 10:10 a.m. after receiving reports of a house fire, Riverside Fire Chief Dan Stitzel stated.

Four 911 calls were made during the incident by bystanders reporting smoke and flames emanating from the building. One of the calls informed of a possible person and dog still inside the burning building.

“I think there might be someone in the house still and the house is about to blow up” from the “huge fire,” a female 911 caller told dispatch. “The bedroom is on fire... It’s coming out the windows.”

“I think there’s a dog inside too,” a male speaker said on the same call. “I kind of heard like barking, but I don’t know if it’s the neighbor’s house.”

Firefighters found a female in the kitchen and a deceased dog during their search, Stitzel informed. “It does appear that she might have been attempting to get out of the house.”

The woman was transported to Miami Valley Hospital after suffering critical injuries, the victim’s family told fire officials.

The fire and smoke caused extensive damage to the home’s interior, Stitzel stated.

Riverside Fire is investigating the cause of the fire.
