DAYTON — Employees at Miami Valley Hospital who have recovered from the coronavirus have signed up to donate convalescent plasma to help treat current patients fighting the virus.
The plasma of those who have recovered from Covid contains antibodies that are capable of fighting the virus.

Carrie Muterspaw, an accounts payable specialist at Premier Healthcare, contracted the virus along with her mother and aunt. While she and mother recovered, the virus took her aunt’s life. She is donating her plasma in her aunt’s honor.
“I’m trying to pay it forward for her,” said Muterspaw.
Muterspaw, like many hospital workers, did not hesitate to sign up to donate.
“As soon as the email came, signed up,” said Muterspaw. “I knew this is what I had to do.”
Those who have recovered from COVID-19 can donate convalescent plasma more than once. Because of that, the hospital has several employee blood drives scheduled over the next several weeks.
