SPRINGFIELD — Fire crews responded to a working house fire in Springfield Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters were dispatched to reports of a working structure fire in the 400 block of North Bechtle Avenue around 11:45 a.m.
Crew on scene told News Center 7 that everyone inside of the home made it out safely, but two pets were killed in the fire.
The origin of the fire is believed to be from a couch in front of an electrical outlet.
The Red Cross has been called to assist the owners of the home.
