TROTWOOD — A man is recovering in the hospital after a plane crash that happened in Montgomery County on Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened at a small airstrip at the corner of Old Dayton and North Lutheran Church Roads around 3 p.m.

As reported on News Center 7 Daybreak, 55-year-old Earnest Washington of Miamisburg was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

First responders told our News Center 7 crew at the scene that the pilot of an Ultralight aircraft was trying to land when the crash occurred.
A 911 caller said that the pilot’s wife was with them while they waited for help.
“His wife says multiple open wounds; the propeller got him,” he said.
The caller told the dispatcher that the pilot flipped the aircraft.
“He’s upside down. He’s very, very hurt. He’s very, very hurt.”
Sgt. Brent Johnson with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said, “It appears he lost control, went off the side of the runway, overturned, and he was ejected from the aircraft.”
Sgt. Johnson said that he was praying for the pilot and his family.
“A lot of times with aircraft accidents, they do turn fatal. The fact that he is still alive- that’s a good sign,” He said.
OSHP says that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified about the crash.
