DAYTON — A public viewing will be held this evening for Dwight Anderson, who is a Dayton basketball legend and played for the NBA and passed away earlier this month.

A private funeral service is schedule for Saturday and all are welcome to join at Anderson’s burial site at Shiloh Park Cemetery at the corner of Main Street and Philadelphia Drive.

Anderson played for the Kentucky Wildcats in the late 70s and the University of Southern California in the early 80s.

His basketball career continued when the Washington Bullets drafted him in 1982. He also played for the Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Pacers.

Anderson was nicknamed “The Blur” for being so fast the family shared.

“City of Dayton lost a legend,” said Bowling Green State University’s Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach in a Tweet.

It is currently unclear what caused Anderson’s death. The family is waiting for the autopsy results, which the coroner’s office said is still pending.
