WAYNE COUNTY, IND. — A Fountain City, Indiana man was killed following a crash involving his pickup truck and a semitrailer on U.S. 27 in Wayne County, Indiana Wednesday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

Robbie Lanter, 54, was identified as the victim killed in the crash reported on U.S. 27 North and Bockhofer Road, north of Fountain City, Wayne County around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sheriff Randy Retter said.
A preliminary investigation found Lanter was traveling west on Bockhofer Road and failed to yield the right of way to a semitrailer hauling tandem box trailers that was traveling south of U.S. 27, Retter said.
Lanter was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said Lanter was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the semitrailer, identified as Justin Rankin, 38, of Muncie, Indiana, was not injured in the crash. He was transported to Reid Health in Richmond for a routine blood draw, however investigators said there was no indication of intoxication.
