Riley expressed gratitude to DeWine/Husted Administration and the Ohio Office of Community Development for awarding $3.1 million in CDBG-CV dollars that grew The Foodbank’s workforce.

She then acknowledged Congressman Mike Turner for championing a $2 million Community Project Funding request. If approved, The Foodbank will have the necessary funding to construct a new multi-purpose building that can provide “wrap-around services including re-entry and workforce programming, collaboration with healthcare providers to increase access to preventative care, and other critical supports,” a spokesperson said.

Riley finally thanked local legislators who supported the Ohio Association of Foodbank’s $15 million request of ARPA funds. The funds will be used to obtain meat and dairy items from local producers, the spokesperson informed via a press release. The Foodbank will receive $900,000 for fresh protein purchases.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to thank our leaders in person and demonstrate exactly what their investment is making possible,” Riley said. “I believe with continued support and collaboration we can create a stronger, healthier community where no one goes hungry.”
