Flying today ahead of Thanksgiving? You’ll want to check your flight status here before heading to the airport.
According to AAA, more than 49 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more for Thanksgiving.
Linda Hughes, public relations and marketing manager for the Dayton International Airport, said on average, 3,800 people fly out of the airport daily, and about the same amount fly in.
“We try to inform passengers to give themselves plenty of time getting here,” Hughes said. “They may have everything right, their T’s crossed and their I’s dotted, but the person in front of them might delay them. So come and be in the airport at least 90 minutes prior to your scheduled time of departure.”
Hughes advises that passengers check their airline’s website and sign up for email/text alerts if there are any delays.
“The airlines have really upped their game,” Hughes said. “They can reach you electronically, so generally, if there are any delays on any flights, they’re contacting passengers far before they even get to the airport. … (Holiday travel) can be stressful. We’re so in tune with the automatic age. We want everything yesterday. Sometimes you have to take a deep breath, take your time and get there safely. Safety is the key.”

Early Tuesday, departing and arriving flights at Dayton International Airport, John Glenn Columbus International Airport and at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport were all on time.
The Midwest will be impacted by a storm system that will bring with it a wintry mix and soggy conditions.
