Donatos Pizza is hoping to be back open sometime Thursday after a fire in the roof tonight shut down the pizzeria.
Doug Galusha, marketing manager for the local Donatos Pizza franchises said after the busy supper hour store employees noticed some smoke coming out near the bathroom areas of the restaurant at 5120 N. Main St. in Harrison Twp.
“There were no customers in the store — it was past our supper hour — and so they were in the back handling delivery and carryout orders. (Employees) did the great thing and called the fire department and they reacted very promptly,” Galusha said.
He called damage minimal, and said he was thankful no customers were involved and all store associates are fine. Galusha said he and other employees made calls to all customers who had placed delivery and carryout orders to explain what happened tonight. Plumbers and roofers will respond to the building Thursday morning to assess and repair damage, he said.
Galusha said they are hoping to reopen as soon as Thursday because the damage was not near the kitchen.

Donatos Pizza, 5120 N. Main St., could be shut down as many as two days because of a fire Wednesday night that left a hole in the roof.
Harrison Twp. fire crews tell us roofers may have touched off a fire in insulation. The cause remains under investigation.
There were no diners, but there were employees. There were no injuries.
A marketing representative for the Donatos said the employees were sent to other locations to help out.
He said an evaluation of the damage will be made Thursday morning, when the damage can be seen easier in the daylight, he said.
Damage was estimated at $5,000.
