Fans welcome home Flyers after great season

A throng of Flyers fans greeted a visibly downtrodden University of Dayton basketball team early Sunday morning.

The bus arreived at approximately 2 a.m. and delivered the team back to campus after a hard-fought loss to the University of Florida.

Red-painted UD seniors Marissa Miroglotta, Hayleigh Raiff and Sarah Costa said they came out in the cold to thank the team for making their senior year special.

Around them dozens of fellow Flyer fanatics waved flags and signs, chanting praise for UD as the bus came to a halt and the players emerged.

"We're really proud of everything they've done," Miroglotta said.

Player Jalen Robinson said it was a "bitter" end to the year, but he was glad for the community support.

"I'm happy that we as a team could make the community happy," he said.

As he loaded his luggage into the car and the crowd began to disperse, head coach Archie Miller expressed a similar sentiment.

"This is the greatest fan base in the country. They've deserved everything that's happened," he said.
