Fairborn airman surprises kids following South Korea deployment

FAIRBORN — A Fairborn airman surprised his four children after returning home from a year-long deployment in South Korea.

Staff Sgt. Matthew Watkins returned home from Kunsan Air Base on Tuesday and was able to surprise each of his kids throughout the day on Wednesday, according to his wife Amanda.

Watkins youngest two children, Tyler and Kenna, were surprised at Fairborn Primary School.  His son Ryan was surprised in class at Fairborn Intermediate.

Watkins oldest daughter Nicole was surprised at Fairborn High School.  Nicole also is a member of the school’s Jr. ROTC program.

Watkins served in South Korea over the last year as a member of the security forces and was a K-9 handler, his wife said.

Watkins is based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
