OHIO — The two Democrats who want to be Ohio’s next governor are debating at Central State University tonight.
Former Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley and former Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley will take the stage at 7 p.m.

Cranley and Whaley’s debate will be the only one in the governor’s primary Tuesday.
Republicans won’t be there, in part, because of invitations that were either declined or that went unanswered.

Governor Mike DeWine declined the Ohio Debate Commission’s invite.
Then one of his challengers, Jim Renacci told the debate commission he would not take part in the debate unless DeWine was there.
The commission said they never heard back from Ron Hood.
That left them with one candidate, Joe Blystone, and the commission said they would not host a debate with one candidate.
The commission told News Center 7 neither Blystone nor Renacci ever formally agreed to a debate, which left Cranley and Whaley squaring off as the standalone event tonight in the governor’s race.
The debate between Whaley and Cranley can be watched on the WHIO-TV Streaming app on Amazon Fire, Apple TV and Roku streaming devices.
