As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00 p.m., gas prices across the Miami Valley are 16 cents cheaper compared to last week.

Prices range from $3.19 a gallon to $2.57 a gallon, according to Gas experts.

The Sheetz on Colonel Glenn Highway in Beavercreek has gas listed on the higher end at $3.19 a gallon.

“I used to work in Columbus, so driving, I was filling the gas tank, a couple times a week. That’s when it was a little higher,” Scott Dennull of Beavercreek said.

Dennull says he has noticed a slight decrease in gas prices recently, despite not having a morning commute.

Instead, he noticed prices fluctuating when he’s filling up for summer plans.

“I believe that they will come down, but I think it’s a matter of time. Nothing happens overnight,” Dennull said.

Gas experts say Dennull is not the only driver noticing a drop in prices.

“I think folks are realizing this price cycling is happening. They probably don’t know why it happens,” Patrick De Haan with Gas Buddy said.

De Haan says gas prices fluctuating is the result of competitive pricing and oil refinery demands.

However, Gas Buddy experts say these prices will not last throughout the summer.

“The last jump happened in late May, back on May 21st. So that puts us at risk for that one or two-week cycle to happen any day now,” De Haan said. “Could be today, next couple of days, certainly it’ll happen at some point this week.”
