Driver killed after steel coil falls off semitrailer, hits SUV in Butler County identified

ST. CLAIR TWP., Butler County — The Butler County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver of an SUV who was killed after a steel coil came loose from the back of a semitrailer and hit his vehicle Wednesday morning.

The crash was reported around 6:20 a.m. on U.S. 127 and Morganthaler Road in St. Clair Twp. north of Hamilton.

The semitrailer was traveling north on U.S. 127 when the steel coil became unsecured and fell off the semi bed, a spokesperson for the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said in a media release. The coil fell into the southbound lane hitting the SUV that was traveling south.

The driver of the SUV killed in the accident was identified as 33-year-old Blake A. Mulder of Seven Mile, Ohio.
