MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — A crash report shows the driver who was accused of hitting and killing a man at a Miami Twp. mobile home park last month was distracted.

Kevin Wakefield, 62, of Miami Twp. was working on his van in the driveway of his mobile home in the 11000 block of Crimson Drive Dec. 14 when he was hit by a pickup truck. The collision threw Wakefield into a neighboring yard.

Wakefield was taken to Kettering Health Main Campus, where he later died from his injuries the next day.

A Miami Twp. crash reported indicates that the driver of the pickup that hit Wakefield had been distracted by something inside his vehicle, but it didn’t show that distraction was anything involving a cell phone or other electronic device.

Online court records show no citations or charges have been filed against the pickup driver as of Wednesday morning.

Alcohol and drug tests were given to the driver of the pickup, however results of those tests were not yet available in the report.

News Center 7 has asked Miami Twp. Police if they are expecting to pursue any charges in the case or issue any citations and are awaiting their response.
